"rock"

Midnight Confessions by The Grass Roots, 1968.

Holy crap if this isn’t one of the best effing songs ever. Very mainstream 1960’s rock, but nonetheless great and makes you want to sing it really loud when it comes on radio. Go ahead. Sing along friends. Also, check out Creed Bratton (creepy old Creed from the television show The Office) playing guitar over to the left. Yeah, he played back up guitar for the Grass Roots…

"D'yer Maker" by Led Zeppelin.

Album: Mothership. Played 210 times.
[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

Retro Tune of the Day: D’yer Maker from the 1973 Led Zeppelin album House of the Holy.

The song title is intended to be pronounced with a British non-rhotic accent as “jah-may-kah.” The name of the song is derived from Jamaica and is a play on words based on the joke “My wife’s on vacation in the West Indies.” “Jamaica?” “No, it was her idea.” Led Zeppelin lead singer Robert Plant has said he finds it amusing when Americans pronounce the song as “Dyer Maker.” [via]
